Contributed Papers

Contributed papers will be classified as regular or short. Regular papers are intended to be a complete description of finished work and will be allotted six pages in the proceedings. Short papers are intended to be an exposition of a novel idea or preliminary results and will be allotted two pages in the proceedings.

Invited/Interactive/Special sessions

Invited/Interactive session proposals should present a unifying theme from a diversity of viewpoints and consist of a summary statement and six full papers (no limit for interactive sessions). Each invited session proposal must be submitted through the Control Systems Society website (http://www.paperplaza.net) and, upon submission, will be assigned a session identification code. The session organizers should submit the proposals in advance of the October 1st deadline so that they can distribute the session code to the individual authors. All papers in the session must be submitted through http://www.paperplaza.net using the session identification code by the October 1st deadline.

Education/Tutorial sessions

Education/Tutorial sessions should address state-of-the-art control theory and industrial applications. Tutorials are encouraged to have panel discussions.

The 2006 ACC will include Tutorial Sessions featuring a one-hour tutorial presentation on an industrially-proven but still relatively new technique, followed by a series of short presentations from industrial participants discussing the implementation, application, and benefits of the technique. In this context, industry includes military, civil, and other practitioners who apply control engineering as a tool in the "real world", and who can relate to the issues that face routine applications such as personnel training, compatibility with maintenance practices, impact on ISO standards, etc. A manuscript that will be allocated 15 pages in the book of proceedings will accompany the one-hour tutorial presentation. Tutorial proposals including a few pages describing what the session is, what topic is that been addressed in a tutorial fashion, and abstracts of the short papers that follow are due by October 1st. For more information, contact the Vice Chair for Industry and Applications, Wendy Foslien, Phone 612-951-7357.

Workshops

Pre-conference workshop proposals addressing all control topics are invited especially those aligned with the conference themes.
