A major hurdle in model-based control development is the difficulty in developing high-fidelity plant models that can be readily used within the existing control-design tool chain. As the demand for complex mechatronic systems - and their associated controllers - increases, it is becoming apparent that plant modeling is correspondingly cumbersome to carry out using traditional simulation tools, and while tools do exist to ease this process for off-line analysis, they are computationally slow and integrate poorly into current control design tools.

Maplesoft will introduce new tools that offer a new approach to plant modeling; using their unique symbolic computation capability to rapidly produce concise equation-based system models that are numerically efficient and readily implemented in tools like Simulink and LabVIEW.
